Oxford teenager Jordan Flynn produced a tremendous display to capture his second Royal Navy ABAE Schools Championships title.
The 14-year-old, from Cowley, won the Class 3 50kg crown with an emphatic 49-32 points verdict over Lewis McKenna (Phil Thomas School of Boxing, Middlesbrough) at the Cedar Mount Sports Hall, Manchester.
Flynn, who fights for the Repton Boxing Club in London’s Bethnal Green where he travels to train three times a week, was crowned the Class 1 champion in 2009 when he was with Berinsfield ABC before finishing runner-up last year.
The St Gregory the Great School pupil, shared the first round with southpaw McKenna, before taking charge in the next two rounds.
“I should have stopped him, but a win is a win,” said Flynn.
“It was an important win because now I go through to box for England.”
His will represent his country in the Three Nations tournament against Scotland and Wales at a venue and on a date to be arranged.
