Organisers of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League have re-iterated that use of iPods and headphones is banned from its races.
The ban was introduced in January this year following an incident during last season’s league meeting at Culham.
Although the ban has been in place ever since, it was not voted upon in the league’s AGM.
But league manager Luke McNeill said: “All music players with headphones were banned from league races some time ago.
“It was introduced at Banbury after an incident at Culham when a competitor had ignored the instructions of race officials near the finish because they were wearing them.
“The league will look into introducing the ban formally into its rules at next year’s AGM.”
