Oxford United have today recalled Jack Midson from his loan spell at Southend.
The striker's time at Roots Hall was due to expire after today's postponed match between Southend United and Crewe.
But with the U's in action against Macclesfield this afternoon - and that match definitely goes ahead - he has returned to the Kassam Stadium 24 hours early.
Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock said: "Even though Oxford have recalled Jack we could still extend his loan if it was right for everyone."
Midson scored both goals in Southend's last League Two outing as they beat Cheltenham Town 2-0.
And the 27-year-old striker says he still wants to try to force his way back into Oxford manager Chris Wilder's plans.
