Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey has suffered a blow after key man Ollie Stanbridge was ruled out for up to six weeks with a serious leg injury.
The midfielder was injured in the first half of last Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win against Chesham United.
It was thought that Stanbridge had suffered a broken leg, but it has been diagnosed as heavy bruising.
However, it means he will miss the busy Christmas period.
“He’s been told by the doctors that it’s going to be out for between four and six weeks, though we hope he will back quicker than that,” said Jeffrey whose side are due to travel to Bashley tomorrow looking to extend their unbeaten run to four Zamaretto Southern League games .
“It’s a big blow to lose Ollie – he’s been doing well for us this season.
“I didn’t actually see what happened, but i’m told it was a bad challenge and he’s gone over on the leg.
“We thought he had broken it, but he’s had an X-ray and the leg is very swollen.”
David Staff should be fit again after going off against Chesham with a calf injury, though Rob Maddox is unavailable.
Former Oxford United youngster Jerome Anderson is set to make his Oxford City debut.
The striker, who scored 46 goals for U’s youth team in , before having a spell at Stevenage will be added to the squad for the Premier Division trip to Cambridge if the paperwork is completed.
Boss Mike Ford said: “He is a natural goalscorer and goals are what we need at the moment.
“Lee Steele has three goals and the next top scorers are Criag McIllwain and Andy Ballard and they are defenders.
“He had a two-year deal with Stevenage and also played at Brackley. But he was without a club.
“It’s really handy for us because he only lives at the Slade.”
Didcot Town host Hemel Hempstead Town aiming to end their winless run of nine games.
North Leigh boss Mark Gee has signed their former defender Joe Wood.
With Stuart Huxley and Karl Dodds sidelined by injury, and Abingdon United defender Tom Franklin rejecting a move to Eynsham Park, Gee asked Wood if he could play.
Wood, 21, was part of the team that won the Hellenic League championship in 2007-08 and has returned from his studies at Nottingham University for Christmas.
Gee said: “He is physically strong and he has a bit of pace, so he will fit in easily.”
Abingdon United are without Steve Davis (unavailable) at home to Bridgwater Town.
Boss Richie Bourne is hoping to sign Jeff Brown on loan from Windsor & Eton, if terms can be sorted out in time.
