Time For Rupert eased Banbury trainer Paul Webber’s nerves with a silky smooth success at Cheltenham on Saturday.
The Mollington handler had expressed his fears about seeing his stable star put his unbeaten record on the line before the DRS Contracts Novices’ Chase.
But he had nothing to worry about as the six-year-old jumped superbly under Stanford in the Vale jockey Will Kennedy to slam Chicago Grey by eight lengths.
Webber said: “It is an honour to have a horse like this.
“Obviously it is reasonably nerve-racking, but I have got say we are enjoying the practice.”
Time For Rupert is now the 7-2 favourite with Ladbrokes for the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
