After nine straight wins, runaway Division 4 leaders Oxford Union A had to settle for a 3-3 draw against second-placed House Club A in the Gentworks Oxford & District League.

Jonathan Leader Maynard got Oxford Union off to a great start and made breaks of 18, 13 and 13 in the opening frame in beating Tony Nichols 58-8, 59-27.

Brian Field struck back for House Club with a 60-43, 49-35 win against Richard Walters, which made it 2-2.

House Club then went ahead thanks to Tony Smith, who stormed through to win the fifth frame 72-19, aided by breaks of 14 and 15.

Smith sensed that victory was in his grasp, but his opponent, Ben Charlston, thought otherwise and pipped Smith 51-42 in a tense final frame.

In the Walt Bradbury Cup, Nolan Aselford beat Matt-hew Challen 3-1, with Darren Howard getting a walkover against John Street.

Howard beat Ed Downey 2-0 in the Walt Bradbury Trophy, where Richard Berry was similarly handed a walkover.

In the Arthur Goodwin Handicap, Howard defeated Nigel Bossom 2-0, with Aselford beating Matthew Challen 2-1.
