Perry Hawkins notched a late winner as Middleton Cheney beat the big freeze with a 3-2 win at Broughton & North Newington in Division 1 of the Oxfordshire Senior League.
In one of only a few matches to survive the cold snap, Broughton took the lead through Karl Tucker, only for Andrew Boyles to equalise.
Chris Tillcock restored Broughton’s lead with a 25-yard rocket, before Scott Finch to brought the sides level from the penalty spot on 70 minutes.
The game was heading for a draw when Hawkins beat the offside trap before lobbing keeper to take victory for Middleton.
Tony Skinner and Daniel Jones both netted doubles for Kidlington Old Boys in their 4-1 victory at North Oxford.
Brian Shields hit back for North Oxford with a penalty.
Kennington eased to a 3-0 victory against strugglers Stonesfield in the Premier Division.
Stuart Wheeler opened their account after five minutes with a cool finish inside the right-hand post following Stephen Lewis’s flick-on.
Lewis made it 2-0 on 59 minutes, hammering in the rebound after the keeper could only parry Ryan Smith’s piledriver.
It was all over on 75 minutes when skipper Stuart Wheeler cut in from the left and beat three players before allowing Colin Williams to tap in their third goal to seal it.
However, two minutes later when Rob Andrews was given his marching orders for an illegal challenge on the halfway line.
Sean O’Sullivan blasted in the winner for Oxford University Press Res as they edged out Oakley United 5-4 in Division 2.
Richie Knight gave the visitors the lead from 25 yards, Barry Baptiste levelling with a neat chip.
Tim Bowlen put the hosts ahead and Sam Bourgine gave them a 3-1 lead.
After the break, Nolan Aselford increased OUP’s advantage, only for goals from Leon Sofroniou, Tom Sullivan and Anthony Davidson to bring Oakley level.
However, Oakley’s hopes of completing the turnaround were ended by O’Sullivan’s late strike.
Bletchingdon Res completed the double over Oakley Res with a 3-1 victory.
Phil Weller gave Oakley the lead with a terrific strike, but a brace from Richard Wells gave Bletchingdon a 2-1 lead at the break.
Victory was sealed when John Webb toe-poked in Bletchingdon’s third.
