Chequers Inn A held off a strong challenge from Three Horseshoes before edging to a thrilling 5-4 win in Section 2.

Victory appeared to be a formality as Chequers took a 3-0 lead with wins from Trevor Ballard, Richard Reveley and Mick Kennett.

However, victories from Steve Colling, which included a maximum 180, John Smith and Paul Bustin levelled it up.

But their hopes of victory ended in a 2-1 pairs defeat.

Kidlington Green Social Club hit back to thrash Nuffield Lounge 8-1.

Dan Jones won the opener for Nuffield, but it was all one way traffic after that with the Kidlington side easing home.

Blackbird Bar A saw off the challenge of East Oxford Conservative Club with a 6-3 victory in Section 3.

Although Martin Berry beat Karl Smith to put the visitors ahead, wins from Ade Bowden and Bob Boyce saw the home side hit back to lead 2-1.

But wins from Alan Cox, Brian Fields and Dave Swanton gave Blackbird a 4-2 lead and a 2-1 pairs win saw Blackbird complete the turnaround.

Newly-promoted Prince of Wales continued their good start to the season with a 5-4 success at Bullnose Morris.

Wins from Wayne Cox, Mark Bayliss and Dave Presley gave them a 3-0 lead.

The Bullnose pulled one back when Vic Clarke defeated Lee Cox, but the visitors restored their lead to 4-2 after Gary Cox beat Ian McMurtha.

Although the hosts cut the gap, Prince of Wales sealed the win, despite a 2-1 pairs loss.

Golden Ball A fought back from 4-2 down to beat Cricketers Arms A 5-4 in Section 4.

They got off to a good start when Jim Crawford beat Brian Rush, only for the visitors to level when Roger Whannel saw off Adi Panes.

Mark Massingham restored the hosts’ lead against Max McDonald.

But wins from Bob Harwood, Chris Myers and Martin Andrews saw Cricketers lead 4-2.

But Golden Ball’s comeback was completed with a 3-0 pairs win.

Team Berry ladies crushed Quarry Gate D 7-2 in their Section 1 clash.

Wins for Sam Moore, Chris Adams, Gemma Dumper and Katie Moore saw Team Berry stroll into a 4-0 lead.

The visitors cut their lead when Amy Francis beat Phil Young.

However, Caz Chorley’s win over Lorna Stubbs restored Berry’s lead to 5-1 and a 2-1 pairs win wrapped up a super display.
