Andy Gardiner was overjoyed at becoming the Disabled Sportsperson of the Year.
Always a big sports fan, the greengrocers’ life was changed for good after a serious fall.
“I was at an all-time low,” he said.
“Having been an able-bodied sportsman for so long, it was difficult to face life in a wheelchair.
“So I thought that I would just fire off an email to dtsgb.com – Disability Target Shooting Great Britain – and it was to change my life.
“I was at my lowest point, and yes, I did wonder if life was worth living.
“But I got a reply almost immediately, it helped to really pick me up again, and the rest as they say, is history – I just cannot believe this. It is great.”
