Oxford's Cheney School have been awarded ‘Premier School’ status by Badminton England.
The Headington school have been recognised for promoting the sport and becomes the third in Oxfordshire to make the grade after Wallingford School and King Alfred’s Sports College, Wantage.
Badminton England’s regional co-ordinator Nina Bridge said: “Cheney is one of only 41 schools nationally to achieve this award.
“Their PE department have ensured high quality badminton is in in the curriculum and after school.
“They have also formed a new junior section with St Clements Badminton Club every Wednesday evening.”
Head of PE, Phillip Rees, said: “This award recognises the hard work of staff and students at Cheney.
“Badminton is a hugely popular participation sport and our students have also achieved success in the national Centre Parcs competition, where they swept through the opposition at local level.”
