James Monks grabbed four tries as Witney won 23-20 at Wimborne to stay top of the table.
Witney were trailing 20-15 before fly half Pierre Dubost’s drop goal and wing Monks’s fourth try sealed victory.
The visitors went close after breaks from Dubost and prop Matt Calley, but suffered a blow when full back Ally McRoberts went off with a hand injury – their eighth such ailment of the season!
Wimborne took the lead with a try, but Witney hit back with a good finish from MonksMonks grabbed his second with a neat chip and chase, but Wimborne hit back again with another try and conversion.
Witney led 15-12 at the interval after Monks’s third try and their scrum gained ascendancy in the second half.
Dubost missed a couple of drop goal attempts, while a penalty and a try put Wimborne ahead.
Replacement flanker Will Worrall sparked the visitors into life in the final quarter and they did just enough to win it.
