Henley Hawks scored five tries to defeat Southend 36-11 at Dry Leas.
Hawks rocked Southend with a try on five minutes, fly half Tom Allen sidestepping through for centre Danny Wells to convert.
Jack Shaylor went close before fellow wing Christoph Bart romped home for try No 2, Wells again converting.
A Wells penalty gave Henley a 17-0 lead after just 12 minutes.
Southend did not get into Hawks’ half for the first quarter, but Andrew Frost slotted a penalty on 29 minutes.
By then Allen had run in his second try and No 8 Matt Payne had been held up.
Flanker Dan Johnson’s try reduced the arrears to 22-8 at the break.
Henley replacement flanker Barty Carson scored their bonus-point try, converted by Wells.
Frost’s second penalty proved Southend’s final points, while Johnson and Carson were sin-binned for separate incidents.
Full back Neil Baggett and flanker Andy Dowling set up Payne for Henley’s fifth try, Wells converting.
The final quarter was scrappy, with Southend flanker Luke Irvine receiving a late yellow card.
