It may not have been pretty, but Oxford City battled their way to a valuable point in their Premier Division relegation tussle at Tiverton on Saturday.
Although unable to force a victory, City will take comfort that they are now undefeated in six of their last seven games and that they moved up one place.
In a game billed as six-pointer, with the sides sitting next to each other in the table, they largely cancelled each other out.
Tiverton had the first chance when Kevin Hill’s shot took a deflection behind for a corner.
Pressure from City saw Ashley Kington put over a chance, while visiting keeper Jakub Jesionkowski denied Mark Saunders.
In the second half, City’s Dave Savage looked like scoring, but the home keeper somehow get behind his shot For the hosts, David Steel headed over and Perry Carpenter went close, while Jesionkowski kept City in the game with a splendid save, tipping over a goalbound header from Adam Mortimer.
