Midlands 1 West
Banbury Bulls put in a vastly improved display to lose 22-19 at Old Laurentians.
Wing Carl Daniels’s late try gave Banbury hope, but they could not finish the job.
Fly half Denzil Evans put the hosts ahead with a penalty after Banbury prop Periss Wilkins had been sin-binned, but Bulls scrum half Eddie Phillips levelled in kind.
Laurentians wing Troy Owen finished brilliantly in the corner, but Banbury’s Miles Johnson equalised following No 8 Simon Brand’s superb flick pass.
Home lock Dan Volkman was driven over for Evans to convert, but two Phillips penalties made it 15-14 at the break.
Scrum half Richard Parker bagged Lauentians’s third try, Evans converting.
The game then ebbed and flowed before Daniels earned Bulls a losing bonus-point.
