Banbury's Mohammed Ayaz has won the Home Counties Senior Novices Class B (10 -20 bouts) light heavyweight title.
Ayaz secured a points victory over Luton Shamrock opponent Dan Bruilly – the lone local success during a 20-bout marathon at the Regal Night Club in Cowley.
Ayaz scythed through with accurate jabs and straight rights to impose his authority, and a succession of combinations in the fourth round consolidated his victory.
Welterweight Imtiaz Khandoka was unlucky not to make it a double for the Spit ‘n’ Sawdust gym after he bowed out on a split decision to Luton Shamrock’s Jack Price.
His best work came in the last two rounds with a succession of crisp combinations finding the target before losing on the narrowest of verdicts.
A late public warning for Blackbird Leys light middleweight Tom Daglish proved decisive in his Class A (less than ten bouts) encounter with Miles Peart.
The warning for holding edged the verdict in the Luton fighter’s direction.
Light welterweight Michael Gibson, also from Blackbird Leys, rallied too late to swing a decision his way against Slough’s Simraw Singh.
Two sessions adrift he improved his accuracy to claim the last round with neat combinations, but this effort was not enough in this Class A clash.
Meanwhile, Berinsfield light welterweight Tomas McDonagh lost out to Kav Prosper, of Hockwell.
