Jason Plato goes for glory this weekend in the final round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch.
The Oxford driver leads the standings by 17 points, but rivals Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and Tom Onslow-Cole can all finish top of the pile.
Silverline Chevrolet driver Plato, who won the title in 2001, said: “I think I’m old enough and wise enough to know what to expect.
“So long as my team and I both give everything then, win or lose, I’ll be able to lie flat in my bed on Sunday night. What will be will be… “But the hunger is exactly the same, as it always was to win this championship.
“It’s a super important championship. It’s one that everyone wants to win and it’s not easy to win – God knows I know that!
“It’s the biggest and best championship in the UK and arguably in Europe.”
Plato was runner-up in three of the last four years, while Neal was champion in 2005 and 2006.
Neither Shedden nor Onslow-Cole have won before.
Today’s qualifying session will be shown on www.itv.com between 3 and 6.15pm, while ITV4 are broadcasting tomorrow’s three races in an extended programme from 10.30am to 6pm.
Latest standings 1 J Plato 224pts, 2 M Neal 207, 3 G Shedden 203, 4 T Onslow-Cole 200.
