Wallingford hope to field influential lock Mike Turner on a regular basis as they seek to climb off the bottom of South West 1 East.
Turner returned to the side in last week’s 10-9 defeat to Maidenhead after more than a season out.
Director of rugby Martin Moran, who team visit Reading tomorrow, said Turner’s work schedule has been the problem.
“We are working on it. He certainly wants to play,” said Moran.
Prop Kris Blaszko was also a late inclusion last week, but he has been given the week off as he returns to full fitness after injury.
Reflecting on the Maidenhead game, Moran added: “It was a much better display. We have been working hard on defence and put on a good show.
“We were probably the better team over the course of the 80 minutes.”
Second-placed Witney will look to make it five wins from six when they host Swanage & Wareham.
Full back Ed Mitcham, wing Lewis Collins and flanker Tim Muller all return to the squad, but skipper James Lamb is still injured.
Swanage are a seasoned side at this level, but have lost their last three outings.
