Oxford City Stars had a disappointing weekend, picking up just one point from their two matches in South Division 1.
Stars shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Cardiff Devils, but then crashed 7-1 at home to Chelmsford Chieftains a day later.
In Cardiff, Stars took the lead in the 14th minute when Alan Green netted.
The home side hit back to equalise through Gareth Dixon, before Tim Burrows fired the home side in front.
With less than four minutes remaining, Josh Oliver grabbed Stars’ second goal to seal a deserved share of the points.
Stars were brought down to earth against Chelmsford at Oxpens Road.
With less than two minutes on the clock, with two Stars players in the penalty box, Nathaniel Williams put the Essex side in front.
Within a minute, Danny Hammond doubled the lead.
Tom Long made it 3-0 before the end of the first period, and it soon became 6-0 with strikes from Rudi Dzurko, Blaho Novak, and Matt Turner in the second period.
Wayne Fiddes reduced the arrears, but the six-goal margin was restored when Novak fired home his second.
l SAM Broughton (2) and Joe Oliver were on target as Oxford City Stars’ second string lost 12-3 away to Slough Jets in South Division 2.
