Head coach Steve Barnes felt Henley Hawks had not played to their potential against Jersey.
Barnes said: “They didn’t do themselves credit for 70 minutes.
“They know that Pete Davies (backs coach) and I have high standards and we’ll be working them hard for next week.”
Barnes added: “I’m frustrated that we didn’t follow our patterns, although perhaps Jersey didn’t allow us to.
“Personal skills let us down. They didn’t create that much themselves, but pounced on our mistakes and put us under pressure.
“I am glad with the way we finished, which showed good fitness and heart.
“We have come a long way since the end of last season. Now we have got to pick ourselves up.
“I would like to have won, but we showed that if you make mistakes at this level, you will be punished.”
