Zamaretto Southern League
Didcot Tn 1, Cirencester Tn 2
Didcot Town old boy James Mortimer-Jones played a key role in sinking his former teammates in the Premier Division on Saturday.
Mortimer-Jones created one goal and scored the other as Cirencester came from behind to snatch the points at Loop Meadow.
The opening period was fairly even, the visitors going close through Jamie Reid, and Carl Brown.
At the other end, Andy Williams fired into the side netting and Mark Draycott struck just over.
The game burst into life nine minutes after the break when Elliot Osborne-Ricketts struck the home side in front.
Michael Alexis played a ball through to Osborne-Ricketts, and his shot took a slight deflection past Matt Bulman in the visitors’ goal.
Play went from end to end, Scott Griffin heading just wide for the visitors, and Josh Dutton-Black seeing a shot cleared off the line by Scott Mason.
Warrell was called into action twice in as many minutes, superbly tipping efforts from Griffin and Rob Hoskin around a post.
Dutton-Black then rattled the bar with a volley, a moment that proved the game’s turning point.
Moments later, Mortimer-Jones levelled with a stunning shot from 25 yards, then with six minutes left, he provided a pinpoint cross for Lyndon Tompkins to nod home.
Didcot Tn: Warrell, Heapy, M Williams, Alexis, Stanley, A Williams, Dutton-Black, Huggins, Bartley, Osborne-Rickets (Witt 67), Draycott (Hopkins 67).
