The Oxfordshire Athletics Network was presented with a cheque for £85,000 by England Athletics at their official launch at Iffley Road.
The network has been set up by England Athletics and is a local partnership of clubs with an aim of improving the quality of the sport within clubs and schools.
With heavy rain, many of the races had to be cancelled, but despite the bad weather, junior athletes from Radley to run in a four-minute race and a one-mile relay around the famous track.
The gold medal went to Robbie Crowther, who ran 1,150m in four minutes.
Robbie Crowther then joined forces with Max Crowther, Shelbie Jackson, Abbey Cottam and Owen Snuggs to run the one-mile relay in 4mins 28secs.
A strength and conditioning workshop was put on by Allen Souch before the cheque was presented to Natasha Jewell from Oxfordshire Athletics.
The first £45,000 of the award must be spent before March 31 next year, and clubs, coaches and officials must propose projects on which the money can be spent.
