Atom racing of Brill dominated the final round of the The British pedal car championships at Curborough sprint circuit in the West Midlands to add the British title to the European crown won last month at Blackbushe.

There are seven rounds in the championship with the team struggling in the early rounds as the youngest team in the age group, endurance and stamina proved challenging but as the season progressed the team slowly began to see an improvement in results.

The title leaders changed with each race in a highly competitive class. The breakthrough for team Atom was in the Shennington 'Le Mans' style 24 hour endurance event.

As night fell the boys produced a devastating pace that demoralised the opposition. Louis Ludlow of Brill, equalled the lap record making him one of the fastest drivers in international pedal car racing and gave them their first outright victory.

At Solihull an injury to the team's most competitive driver saw the remaining drivers compete with a man down for most of the day blowing open the Championship once again.

Winning the European round at Blackbushe gave the team a slight edge going into the final round one that they maximised to the full winning all three races.

Guy North, 14, managed to achieve the longest sprint session of the season in the final race.

Each and every member of the team contributed to this outstanding achievement.

The team consisted of Guy North, Louis Ludlow, Callum Nicoll, Rob Coe, Alek Sobas, Tom Johnson and Max Felton.

My father, Gadget, as he is known, designed and built this car for me and my friends to race.

He did all of this despite undergoing treatment for cancer. He is the real hero in all of this. We did this for him because he is an inspiration to each of us: Work hard, never give up that's his motto, ares to.
