Banbury's men completed a near-perfect pre-season with a 2-0 win at Henley.

It sets them up for their league opener against Spencer this Saturday.

David Clark latched onto a ball hit into the circle by Tyson Nunneley to skilfully deflect the ball home for Banbury’s opening goal ten minutes into the second half.

And ten minutes before the end, Adrian Simons slammed home a penalty corner.

Henley came out of their defensive tactics and tried to press Banbury higher up the field.

This opened the game up and enabled Banbury to hit them on the break a few times, Clark striking the post.

Oxford Hawks 2nd beat Wallingford 3-1, James Lanyon finishing off a good move from close range for Wallingford’s goal.

Witney beat City of Oxford 2-1 in their last pre-season friendly.

Both goals came from penalty corners by Lewis Barnard, whose hat-trick was ruled out by a controversial decision – from Witney’s own umpire!

Andy Small had earlier fired City in front in open play.

Rover Oxford ended their pre-season by losing 3-2 against Marlow at Bisham Abbey.

Midfielder Matt McKeown burst through to score.

Marlow levelled before half-time, but a short corner converted by Rich Beer restored Rover’s lead.

However, Marlow equalised after confusion in Rover’s defence and secured victory with a well-worked third.

l CITY of Oxford won 1-0 at Old Reigatians in the first round of the EH Men’s Vase on Sunday. Dave Dyer got the only goal.
