Oxford Harlequins battled back from 13-3 down to win 15-13 at Cleve.
Cleve fly half Joe Hall missed a penalty to clinch victory with the final kick of the match, but Quins felt they deserved the points.
Hall put Cleve ahead with a fourth-minute penalty.
Lock Andy Boyle and No 8 Jason Welburn won plenty of line-out ball, while prop Simon Chadbone and hooker James Clark stood out in the loose.
Quins’ new half-back pairing of Nick Stirzaker and Jeff Stewart almost created a try for centre Ian Murray, who was pulled down three metres short.
Stewart’s penalty levelled the scores on 19 minutes and the same player went close just before half-time.
Full back Mark Forth went off with a blood injury, so Alex Powell came on to the wing and Graeme Crapper moved to No 15.
Hall kicked a 44th-minute penalty.
Flanker Tim Knapp went off with a bruised and swollen arm on 55 minutes, and things got worse when Cleve No 8 Fraser Cliverd went over for a try, converted by Hall.
A spectacular individual try from Stirzaker, who ran in from 45 metres after a blindside dummy, made it 13-8.
With five minutes remaining, Stirzaker sent Boyle crashing over and Stewart converted.
