THE racing office reported a mixed response to Monday’s trial session after another five trainers failed to trial any new hounds.

However, the pleasing factor was that a further seven greyhounds passed off for the stayers’ 595m trip, and a healthy 25 were added to the ranks for the 450m standard distance.

Best of the bunch was Paddy Curtin’s Agent Shearer, who posted 37.36 for the 595m trip and Caribbean Bill (27.05), Frazers Lloyd (27.41) and White Hart Flyer (27.60) over the shorter distance.

Nick Colton introduced four new Shelbourne-prefixed pups in Chen, Cindy, Carly and Cassi posting 27.86, 27.84, 29.41 and 28.18 respectively.

  • OXFORD are hoping for a good class entry for the Blanchford Building Supplies Oxfordshire Gold Cup which gets under way next month. Trials for the race will be starting soon.
  • THE Nick Colton-trained Jolly Poacher, bounced back to his best with a five-length victory in the fastest time of the night in the opening heats of the Laurels at Belle Vue on Thursday.

Curtin’s Hello Dino also sparkled to win his heat.

  • THE Richard Yeates-trained Lily Rules failed to shine in the Sky televised meeting at Sheffield on Tuesday after leading at the third bend only to meet interference.
  • OXFORD Stadium are hoping Saturday, November 6, goes off with a bang as after racing there will be a firework display and disco.

A family ticket, which comprises two adults and two children – that also includes a night’s racing and three-course meal – costs £50.

  • NEW trainer Richard Baker, currently serving his month’s notice at Henlow, will be trialling a total of 22 hounds this week, most of which were recently purchased from Ireland in readiness for his new post at Cowley.
