JASON Plato goes into the final round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as the title leader.
But the Oxford-based driver was forced to pull out all the stops after a first-race crash in the penultimate round at Donington Park saw him up against it.
Silverline Chevrolet driver Plato crashed out of the first race – and picked up a two-point penalty to compound his misery.
But Plato fought back to secure a pair of vital third place finishes in races two and three to maintain his lead in the standings – the first of those achieved with a stunning comeback drive from the rear of the grid.
Gordon Shedden, Tom Onslow-Cole and Matt Neal each won a race to set up a nail-biting, four-way title-decider on finals day at Brands Hatch on Sunday, October 10.
With 52 points available, just 24 seperate the top four.
STANDINGS
1 J Plato 224pts, 2 M Neal 207, 3 G Shedden 203, 4 T Onslow-Cole 200.
