Michael Harrison (Banbury) came out on top at the Oxfordshire Junior County trials.
Held at South Moreton School, Harrison came out on top, with Charlie Lane (Didcot) and Anthony Howgego (Oxford) occupying the second and third places.
David Smart (Didcot) gave notice of his recent improvement in taking fourth place, ahead of Tom Marrs (Oxford).
By far the youngest player making the top six was 13 year-old Jonah Stott (Oxford), whose left-handed top-spin should bring him success in the future – he has five more years as a junior.
Several other 12-14 year-olds showed great promise.
The pick of the bunch on the day was Cameron Patterson (Didcot), who won two of his matches at deuce in the fifth game.
Two newcomers also starred, Lewis Sumner (Oxford) and Niall Harris (Didcot), the youngest contender, another who will surely make his mark in years to come.
