ANDY Benwell (Predator) has already won this season’s Carp League 2010, but the other places are still up for grabs with one fixture remaining.

Fourteen anglers fished the penultimate round at Rissington last Sunday, and Benwell (Predator) was the clear winner with 173.1.0 of carp caught on paste fished at eight metres over hemp.

Matt Ryman (Predator) fished paste over pellet down the edge to take the runners-up spot with 141.12.0 of carp, and Steve Bartrum took third place with 127.12.0 of carp, also on paste over pellet.

There was a good turn-out of 20 for the Kinloch AC match at Ivy House.

Pegged in a corner swim, Derek Pumfrey weighed in a net of carp and skimmers on pole for a winning 41.12.0.

Andy Pickett took second with 30.12.0 of carp and skimmers from the margins with pellet, followed by Phil Western with 27.12.0 on pellet down the edge.

His best fish was a 11.4.0 common.

The Thames at Folly was the venue for Kidlington’s Green Road SC Cup, fished by 15.

Folly is a good venue as it always seems a very fair stretch and the winner can come from anywhere.

Pegged below the old gaswork bridge opposite a fallen tree, Terry Lester took top spot with 13.10.0.

He fished the long pole with lobworm and landed two decent chub for 8lb, plus perch.

Doug Foreshaw had to settle for second with 13.0.0, using the pole and alternating between maggot and worm to catch a chub of 4lb, and roach and perch.

Sat up by Osney Lock, Jason Bean fished maggot over groundbait to catch roach and perch for 12.6.0 and third.

With more and more match anglers returning to the rivers, Littlemore and Kennington enjoyed a joint club match on the Thames at Kennington, where Steve Trotter topped a good turn-out of 16 anglers.

He was on the fancied bream peg and he managed to find three of them on groundbait feeder with worm for 12.14.0.

He also had a few roach on maggot feeder for his first win of the season.

Wayne Gray was second with a fine bag of roach for 10.4.0 on hemp and tare on the pole.

Ken Franklin had two late bream on groundbait feeder with red maggot for 10.0.0 and third place.

Tackley fished the Thames at Radley where the nine anglers found the river in good nick.

Using a waggler with maggot, Alan Bateman caught a nice net of perch and roach for a winning 11.13.0.

Mick Honey fished pole with maggot to catch roach and perch for a second-placed 11.8.0, and third with 8.11.0 was Steve Malone on waggler and maggot.

Acorn Angling organised the Reg Landsbury Memorial Cup on the Thames at Carmel College and although every one of the ten anglers caught fish, it was hard graft and you had to wait a long time between bites.

Warren Cave took the silverware with a catch of roach and perch weighing 10.15.0 on chopped worm and maggot.

Using a waggler with maggot, John Wheeler caught roach and perch for a second-placed 6.10.0, pipping Robin Cave by two ounces.

Only four members turned up for the latest Oxford Bus AC on the Cherwell at ‘The School’.

Pete Clarke triumphed with a net of roach and perch on pole and maggot for 9.11.0.

Sat on a very shallow peg that is not normally used, Dennis Butler was second with 5.7.0, which included some decent roach and a few perch on pole and maggot.
