HORSPATH have been accepted into next season’s Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League.
The MP Sports Cherwell League champions will play alongside Oxfordshire rivals Thame Town and Aston Rowant in Division 1 West.
However, the ambitious club have been told as two boundary pinch points fall below 45 yards on the current ground, they would not be eligible for promotion to Division 1.
But Horspath plan to make their second ground, which they used for the first time this year, their main ground in the future.
Chairman Ed Murray said: “This is great news.
“It moves us very close to a fundamental objective we set in 2004 after the split with Oxford – that we would seek to build a cricket club where our youth players would not feel they have to leave to play a high standard of cricket.”
Secretary Max Eason added: “We will hopefully have our second ground available for first-team cricket in 2012.”
