Oxford United keeper Ryan Clarke felt it was a harsh scoreline at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, because the team played well.
And the U’s No 1 said that the game brought back memories of a couple of games last season where United failed to win, despite him being a virtual spectator throughout.
“We played very well, it was a bit like the home game against Tamworth last year, and the Forest Green game,” he said.
“On another day it might have been different and it felt like if we got one goal, we might get three or four.
“We didn’t do a lot wrong to be honest with you.
“We had so much of the ball. On another day Beano (James Constable) gets three or four goals, or Greeny (Matt Green) gets one when he goes through, but they’ll still get goals for us, they’re confident boys.
“We just didn’t do it in either box. They took their chance, we didn’t and we could have had three or four.
“We’re disappointed with the result, because we’re an honest bunch of lads.
“It’s gutting really, but we’ve just got to stay positive, and take it into tomorrow’s game because at the same time, the gaffer’s pretty pleased at the way we’ve performed.
“We’ve got to make sure we keep that standard up, and just be tighter at the back. We’ve done well generally and had quite a few clean sheets.
“They’ve had only the one chance – but took it.
“The guy’s put a good ball in the box, and it’s a good header. The higher you go, the better the balls into the box are. Obviously we got caught napping a bit and it was a sloppy goal to give away.”
