Jason Bowers was more than happy with his side’s victory over Oxford Harlequins.
Chinnor’s head coach said: “Right from the outset, we controlled the game in key areas. Individuals allowed that to happen.
“Once we got a decent platform, our backline looked very dangerous and scored some very good tries.
“I thought it was a typical local derby, a bit scrappy and well-contested.
“Both sides struggled to get clean ball.
“Our midfield three looked very sharp, Richard Williams gave us a lot from full back and young Ricky Hopwood had another outstanding game at scrum half.
“If someone had said to me beforehand that we would come here and take five points, I would have said thanks very much.
“But there are things we need to put right and improve.”
Quins’ director of rugby John Brodley said: “I thought we showed glimpses of real quality, but we just couldn’t sustain it for the whole game.
“It is also very difficult to cover up individual errors.
“We had a missed tackle which led to a try and an error in fielding a kick.
“What should have been a closer game got away from us.
“These players are strong characters and have put their hands up to the mistakes.
“I thought we were competitive up front, more so than last season.
“With Stoop and Goode in the centres, Chinnor have got a potent back line. We didn’t really pressure them enough.
“I thought our skill levels in some areas were really high. We showed a willingness to move the ball at pace, but what should have been a closer game wasn’t.”
