BB&O round-up

Alchester's catch-and-drive prowess earned them a 35-8 win at Bicester in their eagerly anticipated Premier Division grudge match.

The visitors scored four of their six tries from what is already a trademark move as they dominated the first battle of the town’s new and old clubs.

Fly half Adam Thompson bagged Alchester’s opening try from a catch-and-drive, with full back Adam White adding a penalty.

The next set-piece try saw centre Steve Miller claim the points, while wing Andy Blacklock collected a loose ball to run in try No 3, converted by White.

Bicester fly half Steve Risbridger slotted a penalty on the stroke of half time.

Early in the second half, Thompson was driven over for his second try.

Bicester came more into the game and were rewarded when replacement Adam Spencer zipped down the right wing to score.

Prop Sean Cooke finished another catch-and-drive move for his first try and broke several tackles for his second to complete the scoring.

Littlemore were given their second successive walkover in Division 1 South, so have a maxium ten points without taking to the field.

Spokesman Darrel Rendell said: “We’re keen a get our season under way with a challenging game.”

Paul Costello kicked the winning penalty as Didcot pipped Kingsclere 22-21 in Division 2 South.

Kingsclere kicked three penalties to lead 9-0, but John Madley replied with a try in the corner.

Didcot took the lead when Andy Taylor touched down under the posts, Costello converting and adding a try of his own.

Kingsclere fought back with two tries and a conversion to lead 21-19, but Costello had the final say.
