OXFORD City boss Mike Ford is convinced they are about to turn a corner and climb the Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division table.

City are still seeking their first win, and went down 1-0 to leaders Cambridge City on Tuesday, but Ford says performances are improving .

Ford said: “Our display on Tuesday was as good as my team has ever produced.

“Their keeper made some great saves and we are just not getting the rub of the green.

“In the last couple of games, we’ve created 15 or 20 chances, and eventually, those chances will start going in.”

City host Evesham United tomorrow, a team who have also made a slow start.

Ford added: “I’m taking away who the opposition are.

“I’m getting performances from the players, and I’m certain the results will follow.”

Craig McIllwain is set to return from a hamstring injury, although Michael Lyon is still suspended.

Banbury United will be at full strength for the visit of Swindon Supermarine.

Boss Billy Jeffrey is seeking a swift response after his side lost 4-1 to Bashley in midweek.

He said: “We were poor on Tuesday, and didn’t help that we were down to ten men with Nathan Haisley being sent off, because that always made it tougher to chase the game.”

Didcot Town travel to un-beaten Chippenham Town.

Richard Witt is unavailable as he is attending a wedding.

Boss Stuart Peace said: “Chippenham will be a really tough game. They’ve made a great start and they’re one of the best sides in the league.

“It will be a tall order for us. We’re not daunted by them.”

Abingdon United will look to continue their 100 per cent record at home to Wimborne in Division 1 South & West.

Leaders Abingdon have won five out of five this season and boss Richie Bourne is keen not to let things slip.

“The attitude of my players has been top-drawer, but e need to maintain the standards we’ve set.”

Jon Gardner (back) and Steve Davis (hamstring) are slight doubts, while Richard Peirson misses out with work commitments.

North Leigh travel to Cinderford Town.

Mark Gee’s men have yet to gain a point this season, but he is not overly concerned.

Gee said: “We’ve played well in the last couple of games, there’s no need to panic.”

Stuart Hole returns from holiday, but midfielder Toby Clark is at a wedding.
