Oxford Utd Res 4
(Woodley 17, Midson 31, Deering 66, Baker 90)
Stevenage Boro Res 2
(Kaddour 1, Mitchley 3)
Oxford United Reserves fought back from 2-0 behind after just three minutes to enjoy a superb victory over Stevenage at Didcot Town’s npower Loop Meadow Stadium on Wednesday night.
Things looked extremely bleak after Dennis Kaddour and Danny Mitchley headed past Simon Eastwood in the totesport.com Football Combination East Division clash.
But a stirring comeback saw United’s second string record victory in a fiesty game.
Aaron Woodley reduced the deficit after 17 minutes, reacting first to Sam Parish’s header across goal.
Jack Midson, who played as a centre half, then equalised, nodding home Leigh Franks’s far-post cross on 31 minutes.
Former U’s winger Yemi Odubade was unlucky to see his left-foot shot cannon back off the bar, with another ex-United player, Luke Foster, seeing a headed chance blocked.
After the break, Sam Deering turned well inside the box, and despite being fouled by Foster, managed to lash home on 66 minutes.
And Richie Baker sealed victory, curling in a free-kick from 20 yards in stoppage time.
Simon Clist played the last 30 minutes on his return from injury, although a late tackle by Joel Byrom hardly helped his recovery.
Oxford Utd: Eastwood, Franks, Kinniburgh, Bulman, Parish, Midson, Potter (Clist 61), Baker, Woodley, Deering, Cole (West 82). Subs not used: McDonagh, Silver.
