Seventeen-year-old Robbie Nicholson completed a memorable season, despite his Combe side sliding to a nine-wicket defeat at home to Eynsham in Division 3 on Saturday.
The youngster completed the feat of 1,000 league runs in a season as he scored 44 out of Combe’s total of 120 all out, becoming one of the youngest players in the league’s history to reach the milestone.
Although Eynsham knocked off the required runs for the loss of just one wicket, Nicholson’s achievement was the highlight of the day.
Needing only nine runs to reach the milestone, Nicholson’s knock took him to 1,035 runs in total.
In 18 innings for the club, he scored four centuries, including two in a weekend, and four half-centuries.
With a highest score of 154 not out, Nicholson’s average is an impressive 79.6.
Chadlington’s Danny Harding tops the run-scoring charts this season.
The former Banbury player amassed 1,380 runs in 20 innings at an average of 92.
Three other batsmen reached the 1,000 run milestone.
Stanton Harcourt’s Harry Sutton scored 1,119 runs, Kilkenny’s Duncan Macdonald 1,060, and Stonesfield’s Tim Wyatt 1,022.
Macdonald also topped the league’s bowling rankings, taking 35 wickets at an average of just 6.2, while Chadlington’s Martin Shepherd took the most wickets in the season (58).
