OCA Divisions 1-3
Westbury clinched a league and cup double as their 23-run victory at Marcham secured the Division 1 title on Saturday.
Westbury, who won the Airey Cup two weeks ago, always had too much for Marcham, and with title rivals Horley slipping up at bottom side Freeland, they clinched the crown comfortably.
Batting first, Westbury were bowled out for 157, Simon Boardman hitting 45 and Stuart Armstrong taking 4-52.
But the total proved beyond the home side, who were all out for 134 in reply.
Richard Tredwell took 3-20 and Andy Clarke 3-27, while Eddie Howard (54no), batting at No 6, ran out of partners as the Marcham tail fell away.
Horley’s hopes were shattered as they crashed to a 17-run defeat at relegated Freeland.
It had looked promising for Horley after they dismissed their visitors for 115, Nick Tarrant taking 3-27 and Dave Eaton 3-37.
But in reply, Horley fell to 98 all out, Andy Warren claiming 4-11 and Chris Hicks 3-18.
Minster Lovell clinched the Division 2 championship, despite losing at home to Hook Norton.
They were shot out for just 110, and were thankful to Eddie Dunn’s 41 as Hooky’s Robin Scotter took 4-31.
In reply, Hooky reached 111-7 for a three-wicket victory, which secured their survival from relegation.
Charlbury failed to captialise on Minster’s defeat, losing by 33 runs at Marsh Gibbon.
Joe Leonard (65) and Stuart Leonard (37) helped Marsh Gibbon to 193-8.
Ashley Rump’s 60 led Charlbury’s reply, but they fell to 160 all out, which meant they had to settle for second place.
Witney Swifts were relegated, despite a ten-ticket crushing of Watlington.
Omar Hussain took 5-15 in Watlington were shot out for 93, before Charlie Fisher’s 59 not out led Swifts to victory.
But with Hooky’s win at Minster, Swifts’ victory proved in vain.
Broughton & North Newington ended the season with a 133-run victory at Letcombe.
Stuart Walton (65) led Broughton to 252-7, then Neil Mepham (4-35) helped to dismiss the home side for 119, despite a battling 54 from Richard Hales.
Stonesfield clinched the Division 3 title after a crushing eight-wicket win at home to East Oxford 2nd.
Adam Lambert (4-31) and Adam Fleetwood (3-22) combined to dismiss East Oxford for 100, then George Redknap (44) and Jamie Burns (30) saw Stonesfield to 104-2.
Oxenford took the runners-up spot as they edged past Westcott by eight runs.
Sesh Nadathur (45) and Rhys Davies (43) led Oxenford to 229-9, and Westcott finished just short at 221 all out.
All this meant East & West Hendred, long time leaders of the Division, finished third.
