l MORECAMBE boss Sammy McIlroy couldn’t believe his team lost at Burton last week.

The Shrimps looked set to claim their first league win of the season as they led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining, but went down 3-2.

“We had a shocking start but got back into the game quickly and were playing some good stuff,” McIlroy said.

“We were controlling the game and I couldn’t see Burton scoring.

“ But we gave away the softest of goals at a set piece, which is something that always annoys me, and then we just let them get on top.

“We needed someone to take more responsibility on the picth and no-one did that.

“I couldn’t believe we lost that game.

“There is plenty of experience in our squad now and they need to show far more resolve.”
