Oxford can ruin Welwyn Garden City’s Division 1 title hopes when the sides meet at Roman Way tomorrow.

Patchy recent form ended Oxford’s own title aspirations and they now lie fourth, but a home victory could well deny leaders Welwyn the crown.

The added local interest is that second-placed Henley, the defending champions, host Aston Rowant, who must win to have any chance of survival.

Oxford captain Jason Harrison, who adds the returning Nick Ferraby to his squad, said: “It was very disappointing to lose last week.

“Once again, the toss went against us. We now want to end our season on a high.

“We looked at it five weeks ago and said if we get some good results, we would be in with a great chance of the title.

“One more win and we would have been right up there.”

Banbury add batsmen Damian Shirazi and Lloyd Sabin to their squad to visit Radlett.

Captain Ian Hawtin said: “Hopefully we’ll be able to finish the game without rain.”

A Banbury victory could help Aston Rowant stay up, but they left their hopes in tatters after collecting just one point in last week’s 206-run defeat to High Wycombe.

Fourth-placed Thame Town will look to complete their best season in Division 2 West by winning at Dinton.

Michael Higgs, vice-captain of Thame, who name an unchanged side, said: “We want to try to finish third as that would best our best ever position.

“We are a young side and hopefully can only get better.”
