Guy Sambrook won his first Tadmarton Heath club championship after holding off pre-tournament favourite Liam Robinson by two shots.
Sambrook, who is Tadmarton’s Foursomes League captain, led after round one with a level-par 69.
The blustery wind made scoring harder on Sunday when Sambrook carded a 76 to become the fifth new name on the Walford Claret Jug in the past six years.
Sambrook, who plays off two, also claimed the Gardiner-Hill Trophy on 141 for the handicap event.
Robinson finished second on 147 after scores of 71 and 76, while Nigel Jennings came third on 153 thanks to rounds of 75 and 78.
Jennings was also second in the Gardiner-Hill Trophy on 143, ahead of Matt Lloyd, who carded 144.
- CHIPPING Norton claimed the Oxfordshire Ladies’ President’s Trophy for the first time in its 50-year history.
The all-day action at Southfield saw Chippy defeat Studley Wood 2-1 in the semi-final and Henley by the same score in the final.
Caroline Johnson and Claire Reynolds won 3&1, Anne Johnson and Sue White sealed their match by one hole, while Rhiannon Davies and Sheila Jones lost 5&3.
- CHIPPING Norton have a seven-point lead at the top of Section 1 in the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League after thrashing Ellesborough 3-0.
Chippy have played two more matches than nearest rivals Tadmarton Heath, but are well placed to maintain a title challenge.
Meanwhile, members raised £3,500 for Help Heroes during Andy Simpson’s captain’s day at Chipping Norton.
