FREDDIE Magee led the way as Chadlington cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Stonesfield to land the OCA League’s Telegraph Cup in Sunday’s rain-affected final at Charlbury.
In a match reduced to 40 overs per side because of heavy showers, Chadlington needed only 35.5 to surpass Stonesfield’s total of 202-8.
Batting first, Stonesfield made slow progress early on, with Jamie Burns scoring 42 and Tim Wyatt 39.
But a whirlwind 79 from Sean Holley, which earned him the man-of-the-match award, took the Division 3 side to an impressive total of 202-8.
In reply, Chadlington had an opening stand of 60 between Magee and Danny Harding.
When Harding fell for 38, Chadlington skipper Mark Lambert chipped in with 28 as he shared a second-wicket stand of 69 with Magee.
Richard Ingram then slammed a quickfire 49 not out and Magee finished unbeaten on 77 as Chadlington eased home with more than four overs left.
It completes a double for Chadlington, who have already clinched the Division 4 title.
