Chesham United 0 Banbury United (Benjamin 32, Shariff 88)2
Banbury grabbed their first Premier Division victory of season with an easy 2-0 win at previously unbeaten Chesham on Saturday.
Before the game, Billy Jeffrey’s side had gleaned two points from their first four games, but they got off the mark in style.
Banbury keeper Joe Murrell denied Rob Bartley and Dom Marsala, before Declan Benjamin fired Banbury ahead from five yards after Ollie Stanbridge’s shot was blocked.
It followed a great run down the left from Nabil Shariff.
Home keeper Shane Gore then saved well from Shariff as Banbury kept up the pressure.
Chesham started the second-half with a lot more effort, but Banbury held firm, with Adam Howarth going close to doubling Banbury’s lead on 62 minutes.
Gore denied Jason Taylor and Nathan Haisley.
A minute from time, Banbury made the game safe when Shariff made it 2-0 from Benjamin’s cut-back.
