A DEVASTATING spell of 8-28 by spinner Jaydeep Bhatti enabled Thame Town to complete the double over Gerrards Cross with a convincing 111-run victory in Divisionh 2 West of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League at Church Meadow.
Following a delayed start after rain had got under the covers, Thame feared the worst after being put in to bat on a wet pitch.
But Michael Higgs (61) and Sam Lachlan (71no) batted with discipline and patience in a game reduced to 93 overs, putting on 121 for the first wicket.
After Higgs was bowled, Manoj Parmar added quick runs to get Thame up to 194-1 off their 51 allocated overs.
Gerrards Cross were soon struggling as Will Rooney, who could only bowl two overs due to injury, and Lachlan took early wickets.
The rest of the game was dominated by the prolific left-armer Bhatti, who soon re-duced the visitors to 43-8.
Cross’s ninth-wicket pair resisted for more than an hour, but Bhatti removed them to finish with figures of 8-28 in 25.5 overs.
