Drennan GOT Baits are the Oxford Super League champions once again and also provided the individual winner in Matt Herbert.
They wrapped up the title by winning the final round on the Thames at Medley and Folly with 58 out of 60 points.
For once, Medley fished the better of the two stretches with a bit of flow and a tinge of colour, providing three out of the top four places.
Herbert was the winner with 20.7.0, making the most of an end peg draw on Medley to catch a tench and a fine bag of roach and hybrids on the pole and caster at 12m.
Martin Phipps (Drennan GOT Baits) was only just behind with 19.13.0 of perch on pole and worm from the peg that has won all the recent matches at Folly.
Paul Passmore (Turner’s Tackle) continued his run of good pegs and results when he drew the top end peg on Medley and caught a mixed bag on pole and maggot to finish just one ounce behind for third.
Herbert dropped only five points in the six matches, proving a worthy individual champion.
The final match in this year’s Summer Carp 2010 League was fished by 16 at Panshill’s Pans Lake.
There was not much between the top two, with Dave Williams edging out Philip Weston with a bag of carp on chopped worm weighing 42.10.0.
Weston was second with 42.0.0 of carp on maggot, followed by Paul Pickett with 23.10.0 of carp on maggot and meat.
Final points: 1 D Pickett 41, 2 D Williams 40, 3 P Hayes 35, 4 D Wilsdon 34.
The Jolly Anglers match fished by ten on their Town Waters proved a close affair between Martin MacDonald and Phil Ansell.
At the whistle it was MacDonald who triumphed with 13.12.0 on waggler and maggot, catching 60 fish, mainly skimmers, roach and perch.
Ansell weighed in 13.3.0, comprising 10lb of decent roach using tares, and 3lb of bleak on maggot.
Darren Wright had a nice net of perch on pole and chop worth a third-placed 9.1.0.
Oxford Waltonian held their annual outing last Sunday, the nine anglers travelling to that distant land, Clifton Island, near Clifton Hampden.
At the whistle, Tony Gee (Acorn Angling) weighed in 13.4.0 of mainly roach on waggler and maggot for top spot.
Geoff Kidd landed a couple of bream, plus bits on pole and maggot, for a second-placed 12.0.0 and would have had more if a boat hadn’t decided to turn around in his swim.
Using the pole and alternating between maggot and caster, Jason Wyatt put 8.10.0 of mainly skimmers on the scales for third place.
There was a good turn-out for the Sutton Courtenay v Clanfield match, fished by 30 at Appleford Reach.
Over the five hours, Richard Adams (SCAC) landed three bream on groundbait feeder and maggot for a winning 13.0.0.
Brian Ballard (Radcot) fished pole and maggot for 8.5.0 of small roach, skimmers, perch and gudgeon for second, followed by Colin Curtis (Clanfield) with 8.1.0. He fished groundbait feeder with maggot, catching a bream, plus small roach and perch.
Masons fished a points match on the Thames at Sandford, where plenty of roach have been coming out recently.
The clear winner with 12.0.0 of roach and skimmers was Chris Webb, who used the pole with tares on the hook and fed hemp.
Gary Pether also used the seed to catch roach for a second-placed 7.7.0, while Andy Webb just couldn’t buy a bite on the tare, so fished maggot and fed hemp for 7.6.0 of roach and skimmers.
Benson fished their 2nd Rosebowl on the Thames at Benson where the six anglers found the going very hard.
Dave Head not only won the match, but also the Golden Peg worth £100 after fishing pole and maggot to catch 9.9.0 of roach and perch.
Mick Marriott switched between the pole and maggot and groundbait feeder to take roach, perch and skimmers for 7.7.0, pipping Lol Budd who had 7.5.0, a mixed bag on pole and maggot.
Nine anglers fished Littlemore’s SH Taylor Cup on the Thames at Kennington, where Alan Campbell claimed his first win of the season.
He drew a noted bream peg on the stretch, but boat traffic and bright sunshine put paid to a big weight.
Instead, he had two small skimmers and a tench on groundbait feeder with worm before swicthing to pole with hemp and tares for a few roach and a winning weight of 9.5.0.
Local expert Richard Wilson could have won it, but lost a good bream at the net. He had two skimmers, plus perch, on groundbait feeder with sweetcorn for 7.7.0.
Anthony Tomkins was third with a good net of roach and skimmers on pole with hemp and caster for 6.7.0.
