Steve Male was crowned British Masters over 45 champion after a strong run at the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon.
The Oxford City athlete came third overall and first vet 40 in the race in a time of 1hr 14mins and 2secs.
Just ahead of Male in second was Alchester’s Nigel Marley, whose time of 1.13.54 confirmed he is back in form after injury.
It proved a good day for City’s veterans on the tough Buckinghamshire course as they won the team prize.
Male was well suppported by John Atyeo, who clocked 1.16.58 for 14th place and third in the British Masters over 40 event.
Completing the team were Julian Richardson, who came 22nd in 1.19.02, Mark Tankard, who was 24th in 1.19.38, and Andy Gleeson in 35th in 1.21.33.
City’s Roy Treadwell was third in the British Masters over 60 category after clocking 1.30.31.
