Cindy Chalmers and Denise Pape made it 5-1 to Nuffield and a 2-1 pairs win completed the scoring.
Section 1 leaders Florence Park Community Centre B entertained Premier side Blackbird Bar and drew first blood when Sue Simmonds beat Jane Godfrey.
Blackbird hit back to lead 2-1 through Shaz Thompson and Sue Smith, but Florence Park regained the lead via Jackie Merritt and Lin Mason.
Blackbirds’ Chris Thompson levelled the scores at 3-3 and a 2-1 pairs success clinched a memorable 5-4 win, Quarry Gate D, the Section 2 leaders, suffered a shock 5-4 reverse at the Red Lion.
Second-placed The Dogwood failed to gain ground after they suffered a 6-3 defeat to the visiting Donnington Community Centre A, who started well when Ann Marks, Emma Hutchinson and Rose Swanton put them 3-0 ahead.
Wendy Plowman and Alison Russell reduced the arrears, but a fine victory from Donnington captain Anne Ranger gave her side a 4-2 lead, which they increased to 6-3 after a 2-1 pairs win, Section 3 leaders Gladiators Social Club A won 6-3 at the Three Horseshoes.
An opening game victory for Lydia Harper gave them the early advantage, the Shoes levelling through Sheila Ward.
Gladiators’ captain Tina Waltons saw off Angela Howes for a 2-1 lead, the Shoes levelling at 2-2 when Natasha Knight beat Bridie Barson.
However, wins from Olga Critchley and Emily Nowland put the visitors in the clear at 4-2 and they increased this to 6-3 with a 2-1 pairs success.
Second-placed Prince of Wales narrowed the gap at the top after 7-2 win at Rileys A. l THE ODDA AGM will be at the Three Horseshoes, Old Marston on Saturday, September 25 (7pm).
