Oxford United fans will be at Wycombe today and West Ham on Tuesday in massive numbers.
The U’s sold out of their 2,320 ticket allocation for this afternoon’s npower League Two fixture at Adams Park.
And even more fans will be following Chris Wilder’s side to West Ham on Tuesday with nearly 3,000 tickets already sold.
United manager Chris Wilder ad-mits he needs to have patience in his team, because he knows they are learning all the time.
He names an unchanged side for the local derby, as the U’s bid for their first league win of the season.
“I’ve got to be patient with the players, they’re playing well, individually and as a team,” he said.
“Last week we were punished for one slip-up, and Bury didn’t really get punished as they should have been, for all our good play.
“Nothing changes my view, from watching the game in the flesh to watching the DVD, I thought we were excellent, but we need to make sure the standards are kept high.”
Wilder added: “I can’t be too critical of my team, they’re growing and evolving. They’re gaining Football League experience.
“And we’ve got to learn from the Bury game that at times we can’t be gung-ho. But I can’t be too critical of them because they wanted to go and win the game of football.
“It’s difficult for me sometimes to get the balance right, but the boys are in good spirits, we’ll take a fantastic following to Wycombe and we’ll be going there looking to win the game.”
There is one enforced change on the bench, where keeper Simon Eastwood sits out the game because of a troubled ankle.
However, a scan shows the injury is not as bad as first thought, and he is expected to be able to take his place on the bench at West Ham on Tuesday. So youngster Nathan Silver is included in the squad today.
Wycombe, tipped by many as title contenders, are expected to make one change, with Dave Winfield coming in at centre half, probably for Leon Johnson.
Wycombe boss Gary Waddock says he’s well aware of the importance of this M40 derby to both clubs’ sets of supporters.
“We know how important it is for the club and the fans, but it is only another three points,” he said.
“There’s going to be a great atmosphere and if we win everyone will be on a high, and if we don’t everyone will be on a low.
“I know what it means for the supporters”
