There were mixed fortunes for Oxfordshire’s girls in their four-cornered county week against Berkshire, Bucks and Hertfordshire at Temple.
The week started in great fashion for Oxon when they won the foursomes stableford competition with 106 points to pip Bucks by one point.
Flora McPhail (Frilford Heath) and Sophie Stone (Studley Wood) scored 39, Gemma Clements (Studley Wood) and Nicole du Plessis (Frilford Heath) recorded 35 points, while Abi Laker (Burford) paired and Cara Gainer (Frilford Heath) returned 31.
However, they could not match that display as they lost all three matches against the other counties during the week.
First they lost 6-1 to Herts, with only Laker and Imogen Vessey (Chipping Norton) managing halves. They lost by same margin to Bucks, with Laker and vice-captain Clements avoiding defeat.
Against, Berkshire, who had lost their previous two matches, there were wins for Clements, du Plessis and Helen Cross (Kirtlington) as Oxon were edged out 4-3.
Hertfordshire won all their matches.
