Gregor McKenzie, from Kirtlington, continued his winning form with a four-shot victory at the British Junior Golf Tour Grand Final held at Heythrop Park The promising nine-year old had rounds of 97 and 99 to finish four shots clear after being joint overnight leader.
This was his second victory in two outings in this series.
In the previous one at St Pierre, Chepstow, he won by a staggering 12 strokes.
Kirtlington professional Andy Taylor, who is McKenzie’s coach said: “Gregor is a very promising player.
“He isreally enjoying his golf, and that is the key point at this stage of his development.”
Eddie Pepperell won three of his six matches as England’s amateurs retained the Home International Championship at Ashburnham lasts week.
The Drayton Park ace completed a double of victories in their 11-4 victory over Ireland, beating Rory Leonard 3 & 1 in the singles and partnering Matthew Southgate to a 4 & 3 success in the foursomes.
The following day against Scotland, Pepperell lost by two holes to James White, while he and Southgate could only halve their foursomes match.
Despite this, England scrambled home 8-7.
Pepperell suffered another singles defeat on the final day against Wales, losing 3 & 1 to Nick James.
But he and Southgate proved too strong in the foursomes, easing home 3 & 1 in England’s 11-4 success, which clinched the title Frilford Heath’s Tom Fleming finished in a tie for 15th in the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at The Oxfordshire last week.
Fleming shot rounds of 73, 69, 72, 75 for a total of 289, ten behind winner David Mortimer, from Ireland, who beat David Shacklady (Mossock Hall) in a sudden-death play-off.
Finishing on the same mark as Fleming were Paul Simpson (West Berks) with rounds of 72, 71, 72, 74 and North Oxford’s Lee Jackson who fired 71, 74, 72, 73.
