Megan Burton’s valiant 47 was in vain as Oxfordshire Women lost by 31 runs to Suffolk in ECB County Championship Division 5 East at Bury St Edmunds.
Chasing Suffolk’s 171, Burton led the way as Oxon rallied from 45-6 before finally being bowled out for 140.
She was given good support by Elspeth Walker in a 47-run partnership.
Earlier, Walker (3-15) and leg spinner Vicky Strode(3-30) had shone with the ball after Oxon had won the toss and put Suffolk in to bat.
Suffolk were 102-8, but a 53-run last-wicket partnership proved crucial. Oxfordshire’s chances weren’t helped by conceding 52 extras.
