Cirencester United 1 (Hoskins 17)

Banbury United 1 (Foster 90)

Rob Foster scored on his Banbury United debut to salvage a point away to Premier Division new boys Cirencester United.

It looked as though Billy Jeffrey’s side would return from Gloucestershire empty-handed, but Foster their summer signing from Nuneaton popped up with a last-minute equaliser.

Cirencester looked the better side during the first-half, though Banbury defended well throughout, and any chances were reduced to hopeful shots from distance.

The home side took the lead when Rob Hoskins bundled home following a free-kick by Tom Etheridge controversially awarded for handball.

Banbury tried to hit back immediately, but failed to trouble Matt Bulman in the Cirencester goal.

After the break, Banbury improved as they pressed for an equaliser.

At the back, Delroy Gordon was magnificent on his Banbury debut, but Luke Cray, who signed last week after being released by Narthampton, was given a hard time on the left side of the defence.

Banbury didn’t give up and were rewarded for their efforts with a 90-minute leveller.

A long throw from Joe Coleman from the right was headed on at the near post, and Foster poked the ball home to snatch a point.
